With gadgets and tech innovations like cell phones, black berrys and PDA’s what are the advantages and disadvantages of a home phone (land line)?

Excellent question.
We have a land-line and three mobiles.
Me thinks it’s all hype – do we need the mobiles?
Or should we get rid of the land-line?
